Hi just wondering if you can tell me what type of weed this is and how to get rid of it. It is taking over my lawn.any help would be appreciated.

It looks like you have creeping bellflower. It is very difficult to get rid of as it has very deep roots and spreads underground. It is also resistant to many herbicides.
You can spot spray postemergent but make sure that whatever you purchase says it is safe for use on lawns.
Keep it mowed so that it can’t flower.
