The first thing to do to soak the burned spots every day for about a week--preferably in the morning.  This will help dilute the salts from the fertilizer into the soil.

If the grass is still alive, you will start seeing some green at the crown--where the grass blades arise from the roots.  If there is no greening, the you can try over-seeding, meaning planting seed in those spots, or putting in sod pieces.

This is a good time to over-seed, with cool, wet weather on and off, but you will still need to irrigate seed or sod several times a day to get the seed to sprout or the grass established.
