Nice find! This is a non-venomous species and appears to be an Eastern Kingsnake. While widespread in about half the state, they are not commonly seen. If you're curious, you can learn more about the life cycle and habits of this species in these resources:
Kingsnakes primarily prey on other snakes, but can also eat a variety of other small animals.
