Rewilding my lawn #867671

Asked May 08, 2024, 9:20 PM EDT

Hi, I want to rewild my lawn. I have no idea how to go about doing this so it works. A friend told me you may be able to help. So, help! I don't know where to start. I have a big yard in Minneapolis. It is all lawn. Much of it is dirt. I suspect that is because of these grubs I have been hearing about. I feel like I should start small...maybe start with the boulevard. I would prefer to go with more ground cover plants rather than taller plants....to start with.

I’m not sure what you mean when you say rewinding but will assume you mean creating a more natural habitat rather than sod.

You may want to consider planting a bee lawn. There are mixes you can find at your local nursery to seed your own lawn.

You cold also design garden beds that show visual interest and create some height including shrubs and small trees.

Below are some links to help get you started. You might also want to hire someone to help you with the design aspect, even if you plan to do the work yourself.

Good luck. This sounds like a fun project.
