Thank you for your question, Stan.  Without photos, I can only speculate that you planted them before the soil was warm enough.  Most guides recommend a soil temperature of 70 degrees, so getting an inexpensive soil thermometer may save you money on dead plants.  If the soil is too cold, they are susceptible to a fungus, and "damping off":  https://pnwhandbooks.org/plantdisease/host-disease/cucumber-cucumis-sativus-damping

The following has information about planting dates, and whether transplanting or direct seeding work best:  https://extension.oregonstate.edu/catalog/pub/em-9027-growing-your-own#planting-dates

Good luck.

I just submitted a new request with photos and that plant was just put in the ground a couple of days ago.

Thank you.  Are better able than I to compare the spots on the leaves to those pictured here, illustrating different diseases?  https://www.vegetables.cornell.edu/pest-management/keys-for-identifying-vegetable-diseases/cucurbit-key/cucumber-disease-key/cucumber-leaf-symptoms/
