Round patches of light, green grass #867620

Asked May 08, 2024, 4:22 PM EDT

We have had a round patch of light green grass in our yard for more than 5 years. Now they seem to be multiplying in both front and backyard. They are NOT fairy rings. We have a lawn service, and water consistently. We used to have a beautiful lawn. Now it’s terrible. Help! Please! Thank you for your consideration, Judi

Expert Response

If you're sure it's not fairy rings, it could be annual bluegrass.  See the two articles below and compare the photos with what you're seeing in your lawn.  Unfortunately, if this is the case, you'll need to kill the grass growing in the patches and reseed.
