Brown Blotch #867551

Asked May 08, 2024, 11:34 AM EDT

Many of the plants that have come up this year in our garden have spots. We have a plant identification app (picture this plant identifier)that says it is brown blotch. On our flox it is called leaf rot. What is the recommended treatment? Should it all be removed?

Hi Steve,

Can you please add photos of the plants with spots to this question? Thanks.

This is example of spotting. We pulled up others with more spotting.

Hi Steve,

This looks like physical or environmental damage, not disease. This is indicated especially when more than one type of plant is affected. It could be sun scald left after water hit the leaves and the sun shone on the wet tissue.

This phlox looks healthy and the new growth is unaffected. I wouldn’t worry about this unless you see more of this on new growth. If so, report back.

Good luck.
