Possible Turf Disease Identification #867529

Asked May 08, 2024, 9:38 AM EDT

Hi there, We have some brown patched that have shown up seemingly overnight, but it took about a week to notice in our turf. We had started mowing this spring and the first 2 cutting went well and everything was green. On our 3rd attempt we noticed the turf was turning brown in patches. It is at a couple of our schools that have new turf pieces after some remodels and new construction. I have attached some pics. I would appreciate any help in identification so we can treat or not?? Thanks for your time!!

Your turfgrass water and fertilizer. I would apply a fertilizer with N-P-K at 1 lbs N per 1,000 sq ft this week, and again in June. I would also start watering at 0.25" applied 4 x week (totaling 1" per week). The purple and yellow symptoms on your ryegrass suggest nutrient deficiencies (P specifically) and/or watering deficiencies (the water is needed to move the nutrients like P up into the plant).
