Hello. I want to tarp an area infested with starthistle. Then, I want to plant something, maybe a clover, that can outcompete the starthistle the following season since it will grow before the thistle will. It doesn’t have to be clover, it could be anything that will hopefully reseed itself each year and continue to outcompete the starthistle. Thanks for your help!

Tarping will not destroy the seeds, etc. from the starthistle. the only way to get rid of it if you do not want to use weedkillers, is to pull it out. if you have a large area this is not praadctical as it is a lot of work. bjut it's permament. Clover
