Tree question and concern #867444

Asked May 07, 2024, 2:44 PM EDT

Hello, I have a Swiss stone pine in the backyard that has bee a beautiful very green tree for 7 years, this spring it has turned quite brownish and I fear is dying, the needles and branches are still soft and there is green toward the inside. Is there hope for the tree? I gave it a good watering and recent rains seem to have saturated the ground now. A photo is enclosed. Thanks!

Expert Response

Because the damage appears to be on the branch tips, it is most likely winter browning. When trees are exposed to periods of warm weather with drying winds it can cause the tips to lose moisture.  Because the ground is frozen that moisture is not replaceable. It likely will recover.  Read more at the following websites.
