Haley,
When was the last time you did a soil test? If you have done one in the last three years, can you supply me with the results and pictures of the peonies from this year? Once I receive the pictures and the soil test, I can help diagnose the problem.
Haley,
If you can't find the soil test results or have not gotten a recent test, I may be able to help if you have pictures of the peonies from this year.
Haley,
After looking at your photos, it looks like the peony plants have grown well, but I see a lack of phosphorus and potassium in the bloom area. I suggest this fall that you apply 1-2 lbs., per 100 sq. feet of garden of a high-phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to the peony plant. This should increase your yield of new buds next spring and more flowers in May. To answer your second question about where to get a soil test from, you call the extension office in your local county and there is a form to fill out and you will need a soil sample and sent it to the lab, and you should receive results in about 10 days with an explanation on the results. If you don't understand the results, you can reopen an inquiry or ask a question about the results or if you live in Franklin County, you can call the local extension hotline in Franklin County and talk to a master gardener on Monday or Friday from 9 am until noon and they help you. I would reopen your present inquiry about the peonies and I will get the your question assigned to me.
