Pollinators for North facing flower bed #867334

Asked May 06, 2024, 8:35 PM EDT

Hello, I live in eastern SD and I am starting a pollinator garden. Are there good pollinator perennials I can plant in the north side of my house? It's completely shaded throughout the day. I'm told Jacob's Latter and Astible are good choices but I have concerns about the almost zero sunlight. Thank you!

Hey Brock, here are some resources of some shade loving perennials in South Dakota: (https://extension.sdstate.edu/shade-loving-perennials-south-dakota-gardens)(https://extension.sdstate.edu/perennial-ground-covers-shady-gardens).

There are many great plants in the resources above in which will attract pollinators. Some of the best ones would be astilbe, bugleweed, joe pye weed, and virginia bluebells.
