Worms #867328

Asked May 06, 2024, 7:55 PM EDT

Hello, I was at the Home Show in Redmond on Friday. One of the helpers at your booth asked me what worms I have in our soil. I replied that we have regular worms, and small, red, skinny worms. She replied that we do not have any regular worms in CO, that we only have red worms because our soil is sterile. I thought it was strange because we have many of what I would call regular worms. Working outside today I came across several so I thought I'd take a photo and show you. Thank you!

Expert Response

Hi,

Thank you for you photo.  Yes, that is an earthworm. They are present here locally and I can find them in my back yard!  Red wigglers aren't readily found in the soil here.
