Fig tree disease? #867314

Asked May 06, 2024, 6:26 PM EDT

My fruiting fig trees are only a few years old but have always been healthy and robust. This year, the leaves are stunted, brown  & sickly. See attached pic, please. My neighbors are not having this problem. Please help.

Expert Response

Hi Ivria and thanks for your question and picture about your fig tree and shriveling leaves. I can't be sure because you only send one picture, but when I enlarge it there seem to be tiny white spots which may be insects. As the suck the moisture from the leaves, the leaves would curl up. Check and see if you look closely at the leaves, are there tiny moving critters? If so, a spray of neem oil or insecticidal soap would be in order.

The reason your neighbor's plants aren't affected would be that somehow your plant is more stressed and that draws in the bugs.

If you don't see signs of insects, try sending a picture of the whole tree, a close up of the leaf and the ground surrounding the tree and I may be able to find a different solution.
