Is this a fern? #867310

There are two of these fern like plants growing in my meadow. Are they keepers?

Hi, 

These are not ferns. They may be the young leaves of Silphium laciniatum or Compassplant. You can wait to see if they bloom! The link provided said they could have a taproot that runs 15 feet deep!
