Eradicating wild raspberries & autumn olives #867170

Asked May 06, 2024, 7:14 AM EDT

My land is being invaded with wild raspberries and autumn olives. We have tried Brushtox recently but that doesn't seem to be touching it. Any advice on how to reduce my "crop"? We have had some success on the autumn olives with Round Up but still seeking the best solution and time of year on both plants as to what to do. Thanks

Expert Response

Brushtox (a.i. triclopyr) and Roundup (a.i. glyphosate) are good options, but sometimes reapplications are needed depending on the level of infestation.

The best time of year to treat perennial plants is in the fall when resources within the plant are moving to the root system.

What method are you using for the autumn olive? Are you treating the foliage, basal bark, cut stumps? Treating cut stumps with the concentrated product is often most effective.

Please let me know some more information and/or if you have additional questions and I'll do my best to help :)

Thanks for your response. We have done the cut stump and spray the trunk as well as foliage spray but that was done in the spring. We'll forge on with this
project in the fall.
