Asked May 05, 2024, 8:28 PM EDT

The house i bought has a black chokeberry that is about 4 years old. It is approximately 3’ tall and 3’ diameter. I wish to place two more next to it and want the same cultivar. How can I identify which one i have?

Expert Response

It’s not possible to identify a cultivar form photos. You will probably have to watch it through the seasons to identify the characteristics you are looking for. Most of the cultivars have been bread for less suckering, compactness and larger flower clusters.

You may also want o visit a large nursery to actually see the difference in the cultivars. At 4 years, the one that is planted at your house is close to maturity so you can see how tall it is.
