Rabbit nest in raised beds #867082

Hello! I just discovered that both my raised beds have rabbit nests. There is a combination of chicken wire and garden fencing in and around both of them. In one I think the mother jumped the fence to create her nest. The other, the mother pushed the fence in from the edge and had her babies in the gap. A mother rabbit can’t carry her babies so I have no idea how they will get out. Any ideas on what I can do to ensure they leave? I don’t want to harm the babies but don’t want them to die in there either.

I'm sorry to hear about the rabbit nests in your raised beds. It sounds like you've done a good job with your fencing, but it seems the rabbits have found ways to bypass it. If the mother rabbit has created a nest in the gap of your fence, it's likely that she's done so to protect her young. Rabbits are very protective of their young and will not leave the nest until they are ready to do so.
