Really bad year for tics here for the first time. What can I used that won't kill the bees and earth worms?

Tick numbers are especially high in Michigan now. They are more prevalent in grassy areas. Wearing long pants and/or applying an insect repellent can help prevent tick bites. If you use a perimeter spray treatment, these will kill most insects. However, if you apply in an area with few or no flowering plants, there will be a reduced risk for damage to pollinators.

The tick in your picture is an American dog tick, which does not transmit lyme disease.
