Resources for native or zone specific plants for Cincinnati #867030

Asked May 04, 2024, 3:55 PM EDT

Hello, I am looking for resources for garden perennials in the Cincinnati area, either native or at least zone-friendly plants, within 15 miles of the Evanston neighborhood. Local big box stores have been very limited in selection. Is there a nursery or plant sale resource you could point me towards? Thanks

Hamilton County Ohio

Expert Response

You can find many plant nurseries via an online search for native perennial plant sellers in Cincinnati that are excellent.  I can also recommend some plant sales that include native perennials.  The first one is the Civic Garden Center annual plant sale which unfortunately just happened yesterday.  See the Link below for future reference since it is probably the closest one to where you live. Second is the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens.  They have a sale coming up on May 18th in Mason.  See link below.  A third sale is one offered by the Cincinnati Nature Center.  They have a plant sale going on for most of the month of May from 10-5 p.m. every day.  They have an admission fee, but it is a great place to visit.   I hope this helps.   Good luck with finding wonderful perennials for your garden.
