Need a tall border plant for harsh sun #866978
Asked May 03, 2024, 11:54 PM EDT
I'm looking for something that can tolerate harsh, direct sun. I have a container garden on my balcony on the 10th floor of my condo in Minneapolis. (Not a ton of wind-- we're pretty tucked back). Most of the day, the sun is gentle. But for approximately an hour or two each day, the sun reflects off of the glass on the building's greenhouse/pool directly at my balcony and scorches everything in its path. I'm looking for something tall (36" to 48" ideally) to plant along my railing to shield the rest of my plants. It needs to be cat-safe. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

You might consider a grass, and there are many options available that will tolerate full sun. For information on some of these, including photos, see
