Volunteer plant in my yard- is it invasive? #866962

Asked May 03, 2024, 7:15 PM EDT

Hello, I have a volunteer tree/bush that sprouted in my yard last year with a clumping habit. It has grown very rapidly. I have never seen any flowers, buds, catkins, or fruit of any kind on this. I'm in Medford, OR in the Rogue Valley. If invasive, I really want to get rid of it. I've narrowed it to possibly some type of willow or black cherry. Thanks in advance!

Expert Response

Yes. It appears to be in the Salix family (willow).
Not invasive.
Possibly an almond leaf willow.
