Hosta Help #866952

I am curious if you could help me identify this hosta variety, but my main question is if you know what is wrong with it? The leaves are splitting down the middle and the splits have brown edges. I have other hosta varieties in close proximity with no sign of similar damage. A tree did fall nearby that previously supplied some shade, but these hostas are on the East side of our home receiving morning light and afternoon shade. Thank you.

Hi Kimberly -
I wish I could help you with the hosta cultivar, but there are thousands of differently named hostas, so it would be impossible. However, I do think that you have sun scald on your middle hosta. Perhaps the yellow part of the leaf is more susceptible to sun damage. That seems to be the case. The east side of your house should be fine for hostas. However, with the tree coming out, your hosta was hit with sun before it was acclimated to that much sun. I found a link with photos for you to compare to your plant. https://apps.extension.umn.edu/garden/diagnose/plant/annualperennial/hosta/leavesspots.html
I hope this helps.
