Sales of Native Plants #866889

Asked May 03, 2024, 12:16 PM EDT

When is the best time to plant and don't you sell at the Farmer's Market in McMinnville? Please let me know when you have another sale! Thanks

Yamhill County Oregon

Expert Response

Hello,
The timing of planting will depend on what you would like to plant. Perennials, shrubs and trees are best planted in the fall or early spring. Spring vegetables (peas, lettuce, broccoli) could have been planted a month or more ago. Summer vegetables and annuals can probably planted any time now that it is May and the chance of frost is low and the forecast looks promising.

For the second part of your question, I am not sure who you are asking about selling at Farmers Markets. OSU Extension or Master Gardeners do not sell plants at the Markets. The main native plant sale in the county is done by the Soil and Water Conservation District and this is in March.
