Seeking help with acreage layout #866793

Asked May 02, 2024, 2:49 PM EDT

I have about 4 acres or so of land that I do not want to mow. I was wondering if your program would assist on how to best design a layout where I could utilize a permaculture approach to minimize maintenance and maximize growth that would have a positive impact on local wildlife. I would also be looking to plant a garden and various fruit trees and bushes. If the layout works we’re considering putting in a pond as well. Would your program do a visit to the property to provide advice?

Goodness! You have a very ambitious program ahead of you. Unfortunately, Master Gardeners do not provide design assistance, merely information or links to reliable information.
However, I do have a suggestion for you. There is a new program about which you can learn and maybe get SOME of the help you want. It is called Nature in My Backyard and is found here: https://clevelandaudubon.org/nature-in-my-backyard/. There is a true wealth of information about pollinator plants as well as sources and uses of them. There might be the possibility of having a team visit and help you see how to develop a more native garden that supports our endangered pollinators. Your timing is great as native plant sales are popping up and the growing season is just starting.
Good luck to you.
