Hi Paul,
It's hard to say for certain, but it looks like the weeds might be in the Asteraceae family. Two apps that can be helpful for plant identification are PlantNet and iNaturalist.
The not-so-fun answer to controlling weeds is that the best way is to keep removing them and not let them go to seed. As I am sure you are aware, there are cultural, mechanical, and chemical options for dealing with weeds.
Best of luck!

This is actual weed I am hoping to identify. It appeared in flowerbed a couple of years ago and spreads via an incredible root system. It spread into my lawn and I'm having to replace areas with new sod because Spectracide lawn weed killer doesn't eradicate roots. You were right about previous image. They are coneflowers.

Paul,
From your photo alone, it is difficult for us to identify which plant is which. I see bindweed (above and to the left of the yellow sprinkler) which is a very common but very difficult to remove weed that spreads by underground roots however I'm not sure that's the weed you are asking us to identify.
Try isolating the weed in question by spreading it out on a blank piece of paper and manipulate the parts so that we can clearly see the leaves, the stem, the flower if you can find one and even the roots if you've got them - the more parts we can see clearly, the better is the chance we can give you an accurate ID.
Just in case bindweed is the weed that you are struggling with, here is a link to an article from CSU Extension with tips on how to control it:

It's bindweed. Thank you for taking the time to respond, my nemesis now has a name.
