Garden unwanted vines and indoor pests! #866704

Asked May 01, 2024, 9:06 PM EDT

How to kill creeping Charlie mixed with morning glories? How to deal with grass with long roots in my flower gardens? I have tried- Preen, putting cardboard down. Also the ground mesh with mulch over it- however it grows underneath then pokes through. (Requested client enter a separate question for the indoor pests, which is handled by another expert)- Administrator Thank you!!

Expert Response

Hi Diane
We have experts in each area of garden plants- weeds, flowers, lawns, vegetables etc.
We also have experts for pests. They are not all the same person, though.

So, would you please enter a new question for the indoor insect pests, and include a couple clear, well-lighted pictures?
Here is how to attach pictures when you create a new question for the insect topic-

When in the screen for your question, Click the “Drop files here or choose them” below the response box( where your question is typed)  to attach them.

You can upload .jpg, .png, .gif, .txt, or .pdf.

NOTE- each picture must be 8mb or less.

I think the creeping Charlie and the unwanted grass questions can be handled together, here. I will forward this to an expert to help you with those two.
Do you want to eliminate both the violet and the morningglory? Also, what are your desirable plants in the area?

For killing grass in your flower gardens I would recommend using a product like Grass B Gon (Ortho), this and similar products will only harm/kill grass/monocot species and will not harm most flowering plants (with some exceptions like lilies, which are monocots, like grass). Always read and follow all labeled directions to increase efficacy and maximize environmental and personal safety.
