Soil test report - fertilizer #866585

Asked May 01, 2024, 10:48 AM EDT

I have found fertilizer the has just nitrogen but how do I know which one to use? Do I buy granular or liquid? Does it matter if the product is 10-0-0 , 46-0-0, 44-0-0? How do I determine how much to put down?

Expert Response

Hi Melanie,

A granular 10-0-0 fertilizer should do the job. If you use a drop spreader, the fertilizer bag will have settings by spreader brand.

If you don’t have a spreader many hardware stores will have them for rent.

This is a good month to apply lawn fertilizer. Good luck.

I am having trouble finding a 10-0-0 granular fertilizer.  I did find a 46-0-0 granular and a liquid 15-0-0.  Can I use one of these and how would I figure out how much to spread to get to the 10-0-0?

Have a great day!

Hi Melanie,

15-0-0 is close enough, applying that will not hurt your lawn. Follow the directions on the bottle to apply, and you should be fine.

Thanks!
