Growing Potatoes in Deschutes County #866041

I use well drained containers. My soil is potting soil and am curious about amendments. I grow from seed potatoes purchased at a local Greenhouse. What verities do you recommend, how should I amend the soil, what kind of fertilizer to use and when to plant?

Smaller types of potatoes will likely be better suited for containers (such as Yukon Gold). Here is a link that discusses growing potatoes in containers (avoid planting in Feb/March however!):
