Good grasses / bushes for dune? #865981

We have a house in Saginaw bay, with a yard, small (~15ft wide) dune, and beach. Right now the dune is a mix of phragmites, wild raspberry, elderberry, and turf grass. We'd like to get rid of the phragmites, but find a way to maintain a privacy screen and wind break to keep the sand from blowing into the yard. Is there a mix of native bushes and grasses that you could recommend that would provide relatively dense vegetation?

Hi Ian,

I've attached an article published by MSU, Dry Sand Prairie plantings.  If you scroll to the end of the article there is a list of plants, grasses, shrubs and trees that grow well in dry sandy conditions.
