Rogue Robins #865976

Asked April 26, 2024, 10:50 AM EDT

Been feeding birds for 10 years, Master Gardener, MSU, since 1993. All was well until last year when the Robins started aggressive behavior. This year is so much worse, bulling all birds, eating the Orioles food, ran the orioles off when they first arrived. I’m so upset, I love my birds but only the tits, chicks and house and purple finches left. Ran off Grosbeak and Bluebirds this AM. What can I do?

Expert Response

Hello Connie,

It sounds to me like the robins have set up their territory in your yard and are defending this territory regardless of the presence of food. Robins do not normally eat the same food as the other birds you have mentioned.

I would stop feeding birds for a while and see what happens.

Sorry I don't have a better answer.

Best,

Aaron
