Lawn ants #865737

Asked April 24, 2024, 1:25 PM EDT

I have ants in my lawn and can't get rid of them. I have used various over the counter products over the past few years with no help. Thank you. Michael

Expert Response

Ants can be very hard to remove. A strategy that usually works is to keep the area where they have built their nests very wet. They don’t like soggy soil. Soggy soil for weeks generally makes them relocate.
Insecticides have been developed to kill them but I don’t like to recommend broad spectrum treatments that kill everything.

Thanks .

I have another question.

I have 2 options for soil for my lawn, which would be better?

Option 1
70% sand, 30% compost

Option 2
70% compost
15%  greens grade top dress sand
15% peat moss

How much is it to get a lawn sample analysis?

Thanks
Michael

I need more information about your soil to comment on what option is best. What is the goal? Are trying to fix a problem? What is the composition of your existing soil? Who is providing the options and why did they recommend one option or the other?
