My honeycrisp apple tree is adjacent to (20 feet from) Fortune apple and Carousel apple trees, all surrounded by lawn and cattle pasture. We have heavy Japanese beetle problems on some fruits and on the honeycrisp apple leaves, which they nearly destroy, but not on the adjacent apples. Are honeycrisp leaves chemically more attractive to the beetles than other apples, or is it a quirk of location?
