I have a weed that is taking over the lawn. It has a woody stem. Grows up to 6 inches tall if left uncut. Spreads out from the root and makes a groundcover. The leaves are small, in threes, that are alternate. The green leaves are oblong no more than 1/2 inch in length. 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch. What is it? What can I do to stop it? It's growing in the grass. Already run out the Bermuda grass and the dandelions.

Clumps of grass

Hi! We purchased a house last fall, after all the grass has died. Now that it's warming up, we're seeing very little lawn grass, but lots of clumps of wide blade grass. I would just like to identify what type of grass the clump is, so I can figure out how to get rid of it. If you happen to know what the fine stuff growing around it is, that would be great to know, too! Thank you!

cooling the bee hive?

I have heard that bees cool their hive by evaporating water. Do they cool the entire hive when it is very hot outside, or do they just cool the brood part and let the honey remain at an ambient temperature?
Thank you,

Mosquito Control in Five Gallon Buckets

A friend of mine has no running water in her home. She relies on water she collects in 5 gallon buckets to have water to flush her toilet. Code Enforcement will not allow her to keep collected water unless an insecticide that controls mosquitos is added to the water. Palmolive does the trick, but Code Enforcement will not accept that solution. The problem is that her dog sometimes drinks water from the buckets. Can you suggest an insecticide that can be added to the water to control mosquitos but has an LD that is not low enough to injure a 75 pound dog?
