Snake Identification

Can anyone identify this snake? My best guess is either a Dekayi brown snake or a northern pine but I am unsure of either cause it doesn't quite match either specifications.

Buying Local

Does The Virginia Cooperative Extension have data relative to the economic impact of "buying local" in Southwestern Virginia? If not, do you know of an agency that would have that data?

Best Native Virginia Plant for poor soils erosion control

Hello,

What do you recommend for a native plant that will help with erosion control on a steep, poor-soil, full-sun rocky stream bank in Bluefield, Virginia. I need something that I will be able to spray along the steep stream slopes, seed or seed-blankets will not work. (Top left of first picture)

Also, What do you recommend for a native plant that will help with erosion control and shade on a steep, acidic, partial sun, clay stream bank in Bluefield, Virginia. (second picture)

Thank you,

Megan

Learning more about Little Spidey

I developed an interest in my bathroom spider, began to observe whenever I washed my hands. He/she hung just under the medicine cabinet, close up when I leaned forward to the sink. Somehow I knew he was harmless, and I became fond of him. One day there was another web close by, with a larger spider but same appearance. Oh, that must be the mom, I thought. Next I saw little white balls stuck on underside of cabinet, gone next day. Then Little Spidey disappeared, and there was only larger spider. Do you think she ate him? Are those little white balls eggs? Do you think Little Spidey was the father? Larger spider now looks decimated. How can I learn more?
