Wild Honey Bee Hive
We just moved to our twenty-five acre, wooded, Smith Mountain Lake property early in the Winter of 2014. This Spring, 2015, we discovered a huge, very active and apparently healthy, honey bee hive. It is located in the base of a gigantic, healthy looking white pine. The problem - the hive is located next to a path, which leads to our dock. We will also be locating a boat house nearby. There are too many bees to be located this close to a lot of human activity. I have spoken to a couple of folks about removing the bees (as I understand the plight of the honey bee) however they are expensive endeavors. I would like to do what is right, but my husband is content just killing the bees, rather than to incur any expense to have them removed. Any suggestions? Or should I just allow my husband to exterminate them? Thank You.

Requesting pesticide education children's wheel
Hello- I'm a Bedford Extension Master Gardener. A fellow volunteer brought a great tool to our "All About Pollinators" themed table at this week's Farmers Market. Want to see if/how I can order some to give out in our community. Front: orange around outside of wheel with words & pics of "wasps, hummingbirds, beetles, bees, bats, moths, butterflies". Magnifying glass with "Get to know our pollinators" etc It is labeled Peen State Pesticide Education, www.pested.psu.edu. Other side shows "Good plants for Pollinators" and a list to "Create your own pollinator-friendly garden!". Has "The National Academies, NAPPC, Pollinator Partnership, Swanson Foundation written on it. Can't find the wheel online. Please help direct me to this or a similar one. I LOVE IT!

kitchen ants
How to eradicate very small kitchen ants. In the past I used boric acid in sugar water, but it stopped working. Switched to Terro Liquid Ant Baits (borax) and it worked for one year. I live in the Blue Ridge Mts in the woods with a large fire brake around my home.
Suggestions?
Thanks, Mamajean
