top 1/2 of ripe tomato has a hard, white layer under the skin

I am growing 2 varieties - Celebrity and Big Beef. The tomatoes are developing into nice, round red fruit. But, when they are peeled, the top 1/2 of the tomato has a hard, white covering all around the tomato. The bottom 1/2 is ripe and very tasty.

Ancient live oak pruning

One very large branch of an ancient live oak tree has grown into the ground about 30 feet from the trunk. Perhaps 20 feet of dense shoots come up from the earth and from what appears to be the original branch. Most of this mess is on an adjoining lot which we are purchasing and must clear at least 12 feet of this mess (including branches 6" or so in width) in order to build a house. Will this pruning adversely affect the health of the old tree which appears to be in very good health? Thank you

Live oak root spread

We are considering building a home adjacent to a lot with a huge old Live Oak tree, one branch of which extends over our lot. How far do Live Oak roots extend? We certainly do not want to damage or kill that tree.

Thank you.

What is this stinging grass?

We have a grass taking over our yard and pastures. It does not respond to round up or other things we have tried. A brush with it is similar to the sting of "bull nettle", leaving fingers numb and tingling and definitely stinging as bad as a fire ant sting. It grows low bushy will crawl under and up through plants but on its on it grows up straighter. Frost and winter did not kill it. WHAT IS THIS WEED? (weed any plant out of place :) We are located near Navasota, TX.

Yellowing tomato plant leaves

I have had a recurrent problem with tomato plant leaves turning yellow with spots and then browning from the bottom of the plant to the top; ultimately it kills the plant. I do practice removing the yellowing leaves from the bottom of the plant and where ever they occur; however, this does not eliminate the problem. Every fall or winter I till up the soil and remove any dead plant material. My tomatoes are in a raised bed garden with soil composed of compost/sand/composted cow manure. I have seen no insects on the plants; treatment with a fungicide once has not helped. I water the plants when the soil appears dry, not waiting for leaves to wilt; about twice a week. Fertilizer with a granular spread 15-5-10 around the plant about once every two weeks. I really need help with this issue and would appreciate any information I need to control this problem. If chemical sprays are recommended, please be specific on the recommendation. I can submit more photos if needed. Thank you.
