Elk or deer rubbing bark off 15-20 foot tall young hemlock tree to remove fuzz from antlers????

There is a brand new area where some deer or elk has nearly rubbed off an area 6 inches tall x 4 inches wide 4 feet off the ground from my 15-20 foot young hemlock. Will other elk or deer come and do the same? Would a motion sensor that turns on a sprinkler deter them? Thanks, Liz Freer

Is this smoke damage or a disease in my Rising Sun Redbud?

Hello, I noticed this process happening on my Rising Sun Redbud in the last 4 weeks. I left for a trip late August and the tree looked healthy. I returned in the midst of the smoke and noticed these changes with the plant. I live in the city of Portland. Thank you for your help!

Looking for an effective pesticide that won't harm plants

I used a household/garden insect spray on our garden flowers that were getting chewed up by insects. The spray contains Pyrithrins (0.02%) and Piperonyl Butoxide0.20%). Unfortunately, it also damaged the petals of the flowers, mostly pansies. I need an effective insecticide that won't damage flowers, please. Can you recommend one? I have used something (can't remember what) that touted being a safe insecticide and caused the insects to essentially blow up. Can you tell me what that might have been? It worked great. Thanks Mike Reding
