Hi, I have a question concerning food products [canned, boxed and other] that were in a moving van for several weeks while waiting for my home to be readied for the move-in. As it was in Michigan and it was December to February I'm sure it was frozen and thawed maybe a few times. No cans seem to be swollen and glass wasn't broken I am wondering about safety. Is it safe to consume? Things like instant potatoes, boxed dinners type stuff, canned vegetables, spaghetti sauces, condiments, etc. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks, Mike

Hi... I have several Lacebark elms with wounds that are killing branches. The wounds also seem to be on the trunks, too. The trees have good vigor and leaf color but something is attacking them. I’ve peeled back dead bark and found some sort of larvae chewing into the cambium. See pictures below. Thanks for the help.

Received a phone call from a client asking how to clean two antique toys that are from the late 1800s.
She indicated that they are tin with paint on them, but rusted. Are there any ways known to clean the toys without ruining them? A TV show is coming through our area next week and asking to see stuff like this, so she wants to have it cleaned up and ready by then. I have included my email as I have promised I would contact her back if I hear anything.

We recently read an advertisement suggesting that bio-liquid calcium was more effective and more cost effective in raising the ph level than lime. In doing a little research, I don't get the impression that this is common practice (yet?), but as a small farming family we're always looking for new ways to improve our process. What are your thoughts on using liquid calcium instead of lime? Is it better/worse? More cost effective? A quick fix for a year that we weren't able to put lime out? Thank you!
