A neighbor asked me to identify a hemi spherical, fuzzy, golf ball sized, black growth on the eve of his front porch. When he removed the growth with a broom handle, there was a puff of black "powder" or possibly spores. A circular black stain remained on the eve. Can you tell me what this growth might be and if it could be a health hazzard. Weather during period of growth was warm and damp. A photo of a portion of the growth is attached.

I am interested in buying a bushel of Einkorn or Emmer Wheat for baking bread. Are these very old wheats grown in Ohio? I would rather spend my money locally where it recirculates. Sincerely, Ed Eibling in Tiffin, OH

Tiny Black Tartarian Cherries

We have a Black Tartarian Cherry tree. It is approximately 10 years old. We have a Bing Cherry tree next to it to pollinate. Our Back Tartarian cherries are in essence skin over the pit. They have very little "meat" on them. Our Bing cherry tree and our North Star Cherry tree produce normal size fruit. Do you have any thoughts or suggestions on the cause and possible cures for our issue? The tree is loaded with these itty bitty cherries.
