Help! Our home in Hideaway Hills is being invaded by cockroaches that seem to be popping up in our sinks. We do have a have a septic system. We have had this home for six years, but this is the first time we've seen this phenomenon. We have the septic cleaned periodically, but because, over the years, we have had periods of greater and lesser usage of this house we don't have this done on a regular basis. We are now retired and will live here full time from now on. What can we do to address this problem in a way that will maintain our septic system and not be toxic for our family and pets?

Hi - I found this flower in a garden of the home we purchased last year. The home sits in a rural area and was originally part of land bought in the 1850s. Trying to redo gardens with native plants. Can you tell me what this plant is. Thank you so much! Kathy

To whom it may concern, I was wondering if you could tell me more about 2 trees I have in my yard. The first is an oak tree with brown spots, the second is a tulip poplar tree with a soft, black area at the trunk base. Any information would be greatly advised. Sincerely, Jon Mesarch

Please advise on how to remove mold (mildew?) from wood furniture (bookcases, headboard, antique oak dining table). The finish is glossy, and of high quality. The items have been stored in a pole barn without incident for 7 months, but a recent 3 week period of rain and humidity have taken its toll. Thank you.
Hello. OK here is an interesting report. I have a jar of alfalfa seed that I have had in storage, unheated and uncooled, for almost 40 years. The jar is fairly well sealed, but has been subjected to temps of 10 below to 100 above F for the last decade or more. I found the jar last month- did a germination test and amazingly get well over 50% germination. It seems that this would be worth reporting in a publication of some sort. I can provide pictures or seed samples. Know any student or faculty interested in this information? -Brian Blair

I am a property owner in Hocking County, near Ash Cave. I am concerned/interested about the Hemlock Wooly Adelgid possibly infesting the Hemlocks on my 30 acre property and nearby parklands. What can I, as a landowner do to protect my Hemlocks? Is the state doing anything to protect the local parkland Hemlocks from HWA? Please advise. Thank You. Michael Koumas
