Where have all the spiders gone.

I have been an avid gardener for many of years, and this is the first year that I can comfortably work in my flower bed without being scared away by spiders. I see none in my beds, maybe a few little ones with webs on the outside, but I live in the country and have only seen one wood spider, and it was inside. Could the temp changes kill them, going from hot to cold? I am not complaining, I am just curious, and the moles this year are having a field day.

Have been trying to rejuvenate an old orchard for 2 years and planted this new Transparent in a different location spring 2014. They both have the same malady. I have looked on line for spray regimen and have not been able to find that. Can you narrow down when and what to spray with. I did dormant spray 2X spring 2014 and once this spring due to weather.

Mowing over black walnuts in yard?

If you mow over (large amounts) of black walnuts in yard and they stay in the yard, will it kill the grass underneath them? Grass is not healthy anyway. Many walnut trees in yard.

About 5 years ago I planted 9 Allegheny Viburnum along a fence line.. About 3 years ago, a couple of them began to look sick. Leaves turned brown and dropped off and they looked bad even though the wood was still green. Tried spraying with a fungicide but seemingly to no avail. One by one the fungus or blight worked its way down the row until now I only have 2 good plants left. Should I just dig the sick ones up and destroy to protect what I have left?
