convertible jet pump upgrade

I have a failed 1/2 hp double tube jet pump. Can I replace it with a 1hp without replacing the "jet assembly" down in the well? Same configuration, just a 1hp.

Edging the sidewalk without a power tool!

Hello, I want to edge my sidewalk and stone retaining wall, I do not want to purchase a power tool. I have been to two large box stores/retailers and they do not have anything that will work. I envision a round, sharp wheel on a long handle that cuts as you roll it? Does such a thing exist? Help! I really want to do this and really do not want to plug anything in or burn any gas in a motorized engine. Just want to use my muscle power without making it impossible. Thank you!

Dawn Redwood branches peeling bark and brown powdery coating

I have a Dawn Rewood tree about 10 years old and 20 ft high. The lowest branches (up to 3' on the trunk) are disfigured by peeling bark and a brown powdery substance. Although the branches are still alive they also seem to be stunted and as they do not grow as vigorously as branches higher on the tree. All the branches above that 3 foot space appear normal. I've attached some photos of a lower branch and a more normal looking higher branch. The disfigured branches, as you will see, bud just as well as the higher branches. Apparently whatever is going on is not affecting the tree's overall growth. I am curious to know, though, if this is a disease of is it something that is not unusual for Dawn Redwoods. I have seen the same thing on a Dawn Redwood in a local park.
Thank you,
Terry Lyle

What kind of "bug" is this?

There are hundreds of these on the outside of our house on Lake Chautauqua (see photo). They are "tame": you can touch them easily, but then they quickly fly away.

What are these?

Hi, I'm in a jrotc program at my school and we went to a camp during the summer. I found these mushrooms and they looked very interesting and I was wondering if you could identify them. If you could that would be great, thank you! :)
