Tiny Black Hopping Insects

Please help identify tiny black insects that are congregating by the thousands primarily on wood surfaces surrounded by native plants. They are smaller than a pepper flake, no coronation other than black, no striation, and they hop when agitated. A collection in a sealed plastic bag has them hopping like popcorn. Cannot locate their source on plants or ground; no visible nests.

Single-stem Rhubarb

Can you identify a rhubarb-like plant where the stalks grow from a single tall stem? Its crown does not flower but just produces more stalks as it grows taller. I have photos but don't see an icon on your site to upload. Thank you. When I submitted, the Browse IMG Icons came up - here are the photos.

How dry does corn need to be to save the seeds?

Saving corn for seed. I planted a non-hybrid corn this year thinking I would save seed for next year. The cobs are drying in a barn, but are not completely dry, with the onset of freezing weather I am wondering if the cobs should be brought inside to finish drying, and just how dry should the kernels be? Does corn have to stratified to germinate? Thank you.

Is it okay to use fresh rhubarb after July 1st? This year my rhubarb plant is still producing nice firm stalks and has not gone to seed. I would like to use this in combination with strawberries/raspberries to make jam. Thanks.
