I have lily of valley invading some of my flower beds. I tried to get rid of them but they keep coming back. Are there any flowers or shrubs that can grow among them.

Raspberry flavor

I have several Britten raspberry bushes that are about five years old and bear lots of plump, juicy, red berries. The problem is they have lost the raspberry taste, are not sweet and taste more like a kiwi than a raspberry. In previous years they have had a wonderful sweet raspberry flavor, now I must add sugar to them before serving. Would adding fertilizer improve the flavor -- if so, what kind?

Verticillium Wilt and systematic fungicides

I've removed a 15-20 year old Surgar? Maple due to what certainly looks like Verticillium Wilt and plan on removing another. I also have a Japanese Lilac that my Agronomist neighbor is sure that had a fungus earlier due to the llok of the leaves that started falling off early summer. I also have a number of perrenials that must have had something also with the leaves eventually turning black. Not a small yard, but still within wind of each other. I'm wondering if a systemic fungicide annually applied to the area would help? The instructions of constantly removing affected leaves/plants probably won't happen on a timely basis. I plan on spraying a topical fungicide on the Lilac when I spray my Crabapple trees hoping that is what it needs. Any thoughts?

Pests eating my roses

Yesterday my roses were covered with small black flies. Today only a few flies left, but the damage has been done. How can I control a future invasion?

shrub rose winter care

I have three large shrub roses that still have all their leaves on. I would like to cut them back and put chicken wire around them and fill that with leaves. I did that last year and they wintered beautifully but the leaves were all gone. I live in Renville County about 100 miles west of the Twin Cities and we have some snow cover. I would like to get them ready for winter before we head south. Do I need to wait until the leaves have fallen to do so?
