Wintering Geraniums

We have several geraniums that are blooming and or budded out and ready to bloom. Your suggestions and thoughts on wintering these over in our heated basement. Do we cut them back, deadhead the old and allow the new? What amount of light is needed? Watering suggestions? Similar questions regarding the proper methods of wintering over Angel-Winged Begonias. Thank you for whatever advise you may be able to offer.

Mystery Wildflower

Can someone ID this flower? It has been growing on our land in SW Minnesota and we haven't been able to figure out what it is. Sorry for the poor image, it was taken from my Grandmothers photo album.

Succulent Plant selection

I would like to grow some plants on my fence by attaching and using drift wood old tires planters. What would be the best plants to grow? Succulent plants are my choice but I know nothing about growing them from seed to transfer outside in May. Please feel free to suggest retailers or websites that might help. Thank You !!

Planting maple trees where pine trees were removed.

I had a windbreak consisting of pine trees. Several trees were damaged and cut down. I would like to plant maple trees in place on the end of the windbreak. Will the maple trees grow on land that has had pine trees growing for the last 30 years?

Bee species question

Some coworkers and I found a bee in a prairie and we were wondering what type it was. It is about an inch long. It has blue bands on the abdomen. The legs and face are bright yellow with large greenish eyes. It has a long snout/mouth and long black antenna that are slightly curved at the ends. It has two sets of wings, one is significantly larger than the other. They are clear and the larger wings are about a half inch long. Through some research we have found the closest is the Blue-banded Bee, but as far as we can find those bees aren't found in Minnesota. Any idea of what it could be? I have attached some photos. Thank you!

Maple tree bark damage

My 4 and 5 yr old boys thought it would be a good idea to peel the bark off of my 4 yr old maple tree! I was wondering if the tree is going to die because of the damage? It is only on half of the main trunk.

Thanks Shawn
