I have a San Pedro Cactus that I have had growing for 3 years. Last summer from under the soil, directly next to the cactus, another column popped up. The original column has a skinny base and I was going to re-pot it this year burying the skinny base. Now I don't know what to do. The second column is very fat and healthy and I am not sure how to re-pot this cactus without having to bury a good portion of the 2nd healthy column. I am wondering, 1st, is it common for an offshoot to start beneath the soil level and what, if anything, does this mean, and also how do I go about re-potting?
