fall tilling and fertilizer application

I just leased half and acre of farm land, it is overgrown with grass and weeds. I would like to do organic farming growing flowers next spring. When do I till (now or after it starts to rain?), would it be good to do a fall fertilizer application (would manure be a good option?) and should I plant a cover crop and if so what do you suggest? thanks, Erica

Hi. I have a weed that is taking over my yard. It is small and wiry and low-growing. I believe it might be perennial. I saw it for the first time last year, and now it makes up the majority of what is growing where grass should have been. It has leaves in groups of tree. The leaves are narrow and smaller than 1/2". In some sunnier areas it has a tiny purple flower. My initial guess was spurge, but I'm not sure if that's correct. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have a nice detail shot of the leaves, if you need more photos. Thanks!

Wasp nests in my shed

I have a small shed in my back yard which has a number of wasp nests inside. The previous owner did nothing with them and I don't know how to get rid of them. The shed needs to be cleaned out but I'm reluctant to even go in the shed until the wasps go away when it cools off. When will it be safe to go in the shed and remove these nests? Can I do this myself or should I talk with an exterminator? Can I prevent them from coming back next year? Many thanks, Dennis

A young Japanese maple in the front yard was apparently eaten by something (the new growth is pretty much gone). How can I prevent this, and what did it?

Planting time for Abelia

I am replacing Abelia on the north side of the house. Is a fall planting the best time of the year to plant Abelia in Midland? Are soil amendments recommended? If so, what are the best amendments to add? I initially planted in April but they did not survive the intense heat reflecting off of the light colored brick.
