Why does the report say to add fertilizer (which includes K), then also say to add K in the fall? Is it the timing of it, adding the additional K in the fall? We had the soil test done last summer, but have not done anything to the soil yet, are just starting to garden this spring. I'm wondering if we should add additional K now, or wait until the fall. The report also says to add lime with no lime time-line. When should that be added?

Dear Master Gardener, This is my first time starting seeds indoors for my vegetable garden and I am having a difficult time with some of the seeds, primarily the brassicas-kale, cabbage, and lettuce. The first time they started dying off and rotting before they really even shot up- I am pretty sure this was due to overwatering and not enough airflow which caused them to dampen off. I sterilized my containers and put in fresh soil and new seeds. A few started to come up yesterday but they look more yellow in color and not very healthy looking (pic included). I tried to manage the water better this time-letting the soil get semi-dry but not dry out before I water again. I also placed a dome on top with a few holes for air. The soil temp is around 78-80 degrees F. And they are under blue flourescent grow lights that I just purchased. The peppers that sprouted look quite healthy, I am just not sure what is happening ( pic included). It could be overwatering again perhaps or not enough air flow but it's hard to manage. I keep a small fan running with air. I am using Foxfarm ocean forest potting soil. Please provide any insights or ways that I might manage them better. Thank you!

Can Amaryllis seeds grow? What method is best to use?
When is the best time in spring to apply crabgrass control in central kentucky
I planted about 70 poplars10 years or more years ago along our property line perpendicular to the S. Yamhill R. and beside our home in Sheridan. I did this at the suggestion of a Yamhill extension agent for a fast growing wind break and shade. More than half didn't survive the summer droughts we had back then, but the rest have grown to 35-40 feet. During past several years they have sent out large surface roots near our foundation and along our fenced yard, causing somewhat of a hazard for walking and mowing. I am aware that the roots are not supposed to harm the foundation in their search for water, but these suckers are getting big and extending into my neighbor's yard. My question: Can some of these be cut without killing the tree? I would hate to lose any.

Is there a soil test that's pretty accurate to tell you the pH of your soil that I can buy? Or is there somewhere where I can take it to have it tested? And how do I take a soil sample to have it tested, meaning how much and how deep to get a sample? Also is there a good book growing plants and trees in Colorado? I'm having problems with bugs and animals also as I live in the country.
