I would like to root a cutting from A China Doll houseplant. I cut near the bottom of the stem and made an angle cut and put it into a cup of water. It seems to be taking some time. Is this normal? it has been a week or ten days. Any suggestions on how to root or grow this plant? Thank you! Sincerely, Mary Juba 651-437-8074

Soil Test (#AZ6CZ7) Report for Neil Parkin - Side Lawn (crop: Lawn New)

Pardon me if this has been sent twice. I cannot get your page to send correctly. Please see the above referenced soil sample test. I have added new top soil and starter fertilizer to the area shown in the picture. Then planted Scotts Commercial mix which is a blend of 4 tall fescue's. The grass took very well and got to about 3 or 4 inches tall. Within a month or so the new grass (which has been used in other portions of my yard that have a lot of shade planted on just sand) would no longer stand upright but began to droop over. Now the area is completely bare of grass once again. This is one of 3 or 4 areas of my yard under beach trees that have grown grass fine since my yard was put in 13 years ago but are bare now. I have 3 other pictures I would like to send you but I can only get one picture to upload at this time with this correspondence.

Please see the above referenced soil sample test. I have added new top soil and starter fertilizer to the area shown in the picture. Then planted Scotts Commercial mix which is a blend of 4 tall fescue's. The grass took very well during the summer and got to about 3 or 4 inches tall. Within a month or so the new grass (which has been used in other portions of my yard that have a lot of shade, no beach trees, is planted on just sand and is doing just fine) would no longer stand upright but began to droop over. Now the area is completely died out again and bare of grass. These areas of my yard are under beach trees and have grown very good grass since my yard was put in 13 years ago but are bare now for the last two summers and will not support grass of any mixture as I have tried a number of varieties, the tall fescue being the most recent. Thanks in advance.

Treating a fruit fly infestation

How do I get rid of these little pests? I've tried the vinegar in the jar with the soap suds and the jar covered with holes poked in it. I catch lots of flies, but their numbers don't seem to decrease. I also ordered two cute traps from Amazon. They also catch the little devils, but so far no relief! Will these pests eventually die out? HELP!

Planting Thyme in Boulder

Hello!

I have a new flagstone patio that we put in in June. It has wide (2-3") spaces in beween the stones. My intention is to have Thyme growing in between. We planted small bunches in each threshhold, hoping it would spread in many directions. Many of them have been uprooted by animals. The ones that remain look healthy, but don't seem to be spreading. I am not sure if its lemon thyme or creeping thyme that we planted. Does it matter? Should I plant more now before the winter, or it better to wait until the Spring? And do you have any other ideas/suggestions for me?

Thanks!
Laurie

On-site sewer facilities

I am a real estate broker who is in the process of listing my parents (deceased) home. Before my mom died, she stated they had a sceptic tank installed on the property way before they were forced to connect to the City of Houston Water system. She never told me what year the sceptic was installed, she just gave me an idea of where it was located in the yard.

Texas Association of Realtors require I use a form titled "Information About On-Site Sewer Facility: and listed your agency as the place to find pamphlets describing on-site sewer facilities. Can you tell me where on your website, I can find this pamphlet for my single family dwelling (1-2 bedrooms less than 1,500 square feet).

I have a philodendron which I am having trouble with. It is large, the from base to leaf tips is around 3-4 feet. The plant continues to produce new leaves but the tips of the leaves turn brown. I keep it in part sun in my living room and water it about every 1.5 to 2 weeks when it is dry. The base of the plant keeps getting taller but continues to decrease in diameter. I'm afraid I am killing it slowly. I have read that cutting it off at the base near the soil could help, but really don't know anything about it. The plant came from my great grandmother so it's very old, but I was never told how to care for it. Thank you for you help!
